the case of the missing pants and PIN
sigh.
for those of you who know me best, you probably know that i miss next to nothing (as in details and proofreading--probably has something to do with my being a designer) and i lose even less (as in information and tangible things).
well, i've lost two things! one is pretty important and the other is, well, just sentimental.
the first thing is my Personal Identification Number or PIN for one of my two check (debit) cards. the card and my information were compromised at the end of last year (you might have heard about the security breach at Marshall's and TJ Maxx stores) so i was sent a new one from my old credit union back in Texas. well, they sent a new PIN with it as well.
instead of memorizing it or changing it to the PIN i had previously... i set the paper aside and thought i'd deal with it later. well, after an EXHAUSTIVE paper purge and thorough search of my room... i can't find it. now when i use the card, i just sign for it like a credit transaction. but if i ever needed cash, i couldn't get any. i suppose i can just call for another card, but still... it's not like me to lose important stuff.
the other thing missing is a pair of pants. i just did laundry on monday, and when i went to get something to wear from my closet on wednesday, i noticed that my chocolate brown velour pants were missing. they weren't precious by any means, being that they were from Old Navy, but they fit really well and were oh-so comfy. it was like wearing the softest blanket, but as pants.
the last time i remember wearing them was in Carmel, on the beach. i had gotten them wet in the surf, and i had to remove them back at the hotel room and hang them up. when K and i left Carmel, i put them in a plastic bag because they were still wet and sandy. when we got back to the city, we emptied the rental car twice (once at my house and once at K's)... and surely by now if either of us had possession of the bag of pants, our noses would have told us.
so... i know there's a possibility that i could have thrown the PIN away accidentally, but how does one lose a pair of pants??? my room is incredibly small, and they are NOWHERE to be found.
maybe there's a black hole in my room...

sorry to hear about that... that is so weird. the day you stop thinking about them will be the day it all turns up.
Happy 30th!
