it's been said that life is what happens when you're making other plans. it couldn't be a better truism for my life right now: having an illness has altered my life in ways i never would have imagined. right now, i'm just taking things literally a day at a time, because i've found that even the best laid plans go awry.

Tales of Anemic Girl... The Release!

good news: i was discharged from the hospital last night!!

it was so good to be back home with my family and K (who has been here with me for the past week).

i won't post a long one today, but here's what happened to me in a nutshell:

i got sick with flu-like symptoms, had spiking fevers and joint pains so painful i couldn't walk onto or off of the airplane coming to Texas. i went to the emergency room last Wednesday night, and then again last Friday morning. i spent Saturday in the ICU, and the rest of my time in a regular room.

i am still unsure of my official diagnosis, but what i do know is that i have a rare form of anemia that may have been worsened by some type of virus (still unknown... but one doctor postulated Rheumatic Fever).

for the next two months, i will be on steroids (yay, i can finally make it in the Major Leagues ;)) and monitoring my blood count and overall health... i'm not sure when i'll be back to San Francisco, but for the time being, i am here at my sister's house in Pearland, close to the Medical Center in Houston should anything else arise.

ok. that's enough for now... kinda getting tired. i will update more later.
